About Bihar Har Ghar Bijli Yojana (BHGBY) Scheme
Bihar Har Ghar Bijli Yojana The Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched a new scheme called Har Ghar Bijli Yojana. The main aim of Har Ghar Bijli Yojana scheme is to provide the electricity at free of cost to about 50 lakhs household Above the Poverty Line (APL) of Bihar state government. The purpose of the program is to supply power to every household in Bihar in the next two years.
Under the seven Nischay Schemes, Har Ghar Bijli Yojana was the last of the 7 schemes to be launched. The scheme will be implemented by the year 2018. Around 50% of Above Poverty Line families in rural Bihar who does not have electricity connections will be covered under the free electricity connection scheme.
There are seven different Nischya Schemes like the development of roads, drainage, working on youth development, stretching higher education scope in the state, building a toilet and do away with open defection, providing fresh drinking water and empowering women of the state. Bihar Har Ghar Bijli Yojana (BHGBY) Scheme also one of the schemes in Nischya Scheme which provides electricity to all householders
Benefits of Bihar Har Ghar Bijli Yojana (BHGBY) Scheme
- The objective of the scheme is to provide the connection to over 50 lakh households.
- Under this scheme, they provide electrical connection around 50% of the families who live in the rural areas and the Above Poverty Line
- Free electricity will be provided to the beneficiaries without any installation charges.
- The monthly bill has to be paid by the beneficiaries as per the usage of electricity.
- apart from Householders, the people who are under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana are also eligible for this scheme
How Much Cost To Get The Electricity Connection
Under this scheme, the Bihar government has provided electricity connections to 50 Lakh households. The Bihar Government will provide this connection to these households at free of cost. The electricity bill will be paid by the beneficiary as per the usage of every month.
For this, the state government has made the survey of 1.95 crore houses. The electricity consumption is increased from 70 units to 250 units per consumer and number of consumers has been increased from the 17 Lakh to 81 Lakh.
If any household of the state Bihar do not want to get the connection of electricity then they have to give a reasonable excuse to the government of Bihar
